Description
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is constructing a new 5,000-space parking structure in Terminal 1—Lindbergh at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The structure will accommodate growth in airport operations and public parking demand. The project included demolition of portions of existing infrastructure, and construction of an eleven-level parking structure, a rental car customer service building, a transit center, and other supporting infrastructure, all while maintaining operations of the airport and the LRT station over which the parking ramp is located.
This project is one of the largest infrastructure improvement projects that the MAC has ever undertaken. Learn more about MAC’s decision-making process to move forward with this project, and the many design and construction challenges overcome during the project.
