SUMMARY:Women In Engineering: ElevateHer - a Discussion of Survival in the AEC industry
DESCRIPTION:Thank you members for your interest in this program\, we have reached our capacity for this event.\n\n\n\nThe next event in this series will be Overcoming Imposter Syndrome with Laura Boyd on January 27th. Please click here to register online.\n\n\n\n\n\nElevateHer: a discussion of survival for the AEC industry\n\n\n\n100%. That's the number of women principals who have ever considered leaving the industry based on Zweig Group's national survey of principals\, partners\, and owners of AEC firms. This statistic compares to 49% of men. The same survey identified recruiting and retention as the top challenge facing firm principals.\n\n\n\nWhile women are entering engineering programs at record rates\, the data is clear that we - as a profession - have to acknowledge the reality that unless we change\, we will repeat the cycle of recruiting the next generation of women and retaining them until they join the 100% ranks. There is a real opportunity to build teams with the best and brightest talent if we can come together to create cultures that foster all careers. The role of gender and what it means to be a woman in an AEC firm is a complex\, changing\, and highly charged topic. And it's one that has to be discussed as a question of survival for AEC firms. \n\n\n\n\n\nPresenter: Jamie Claire Kiser\, Managing Principal\, Director of Advisory Services & CFO\n\n\n\nJamie Claire is experienced in financial analysis\, evaluating transactions\, and providing clear solutions to the financial and operational needs of businesses. Prior to joining Zweig Group in 2015 as Director of Merger & Acquisition Services\, Jamie Claire practiced law and also worked in commercial banking.\n\n\n\nShe holds an MBA\, JD\, and BA in History all from the University of Arkansas. She is a managing principal at Zweig Group and serves on the firm's board of directors. Additionally\, she is an outside board member to Miyamoto International\, a 180-person earthquake structural engineering firm based in Sacramento\, California\; and is on the board of the Buffalo River Foundation\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to conserving the Buffalo National River.
