Description
As a structural engineer, when is it a good idea to use driven pipe pile as opposed to H-Pile to support a structure?
If the answer is not immediately obvious, there may be some benefit to attending this short review of the subject.
This will be a discussion of various deep foundation systems used in the area and some advantages and disadvantages of each system. Examples of various options will be presented, as well as some unique applications. We will cover the following deep foundation systems:
- Driven Pipe Pile, and H-Pile
- Steel Sheet Pile
- Caissons and Drilled Piers
- Micropile, with permanent steel casing or hollow bar micropile
- Helical Piers
