Course Description: Many watershed districts and municipal bodies are now including phosphorus removal requirements for site development. These requirements can prove to be a real challenge for designers who are tasked with maximizing developable land area. This presentation will overview some available solutions in the underground BMP market and discuss the advantages and disadvantages associated with each system. Attendees will gain a thorough awareness of what tools are available to them and when one solution may be more appropriate than another.
Topics to be discussed include:
- Phosphorus basics: What is it and how does it get there?
- Removing phosphorus: Mechanisms that can do the trick.
- Product overviews: What’s out there and how does it work?
- Testing and verification: Understanding third party testing and BMP certification programs.
- Other considerations for underground BMP’s: pretreatment, installation, maintenance, etc…
