Description
Event Summary: We will discuss Geopier® Rigid Inclusion methods from design to construction. These methods typically are crushed aggregate blended with cement grout or aggregate confined by a high-density shell. We will look at “poor” soil profiles that are good candidates for Rigid Inclusions and why that would work out well for the design/construction teams. We have installed Rigid Inclusion systems for 11 years in the Twin Cities area so there will be case histories showing how they were used.
Speaker: Charles Allgood has been a designer for Geopier® Ground Improvement since 2001, and in that time he has introduced the Minnesota design and construction community to ground improvement (which was rarely practiced prior to 2001). Early in his career with Geopier®, Charles designed Rammed Aggregate Pier® systems and supported numerous structures. In 2008 he helped introduce Geopier Rigid Inclusion systems, which are now supported with 11 years of project case histories.
Charles received a BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Florida with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering. Before working for Geopier®, Charles worked as a Geotechnical Consultant for Law Engineering (FL), GME Consultants (purchased by AET), and Braun Intertec Corporation.
