Description
Concrete Restoration Process Overview: This portion of the program provides an overview of the information gathering phases of the concrete restoration process, including on-site analysis, and determining the causes of concrete failure. Significant time is spent discussing the steel corrosion process, and modern methods of treatment and prevention, including the use of cathodic protection and corrosion inhibiting admixtures.
Repair Material Selection: Physical concrete repair material properties such as bond strength, linear shrinkage, and modulus of elasticity are discussed. Recommendations by the American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) and the Corps of Engineers regarding material selection are covered. We will also discuss modern concrete repair methods including; surface prep techniques, the use of bonding agents, trowel applied repairs, form and pour repairs, and both wet and dry process shotcrete application of repair mortars.
