Description
It is important for all engineers to be actively involved during the construction phase of the projects they design. Construction administration, however, is full of traps for the unwary. Should you approve the contractor?s proposed substitution? What should you do when subcontractors are not wearing their hard hats? What steps should you take when you observe non-conforming work? This seminar will look at many of the issues that can arise for the engineer during the construction phase of a project and will provide ideas and guidelines for dealing with some of those situations that create the most potential liability.
Presenter: Eric Heiberg is a partner at the law firm of Heley, Duncan & Melander, PLLP. He has advised design professionals for 18 years on general liability, business, contractual and employment issues that arise on a sometimes daily basis. Eric is also a seasoned litigator and advocate who works tirelessly on behalf of his design professional clients in all types of claims litigation. Eric routinely advises his clients during complicated projects regarding proper project documentation and process, and has helped dozens of firms during the construction administration process to minimize potential liability even in sticky situations.
