Risk management is much more than insurance – it’s a way of operating your business. One of the necessary tools for risk management is an awareness of the engineer’s ethical obligations, which then informs how the engineer communicates about issues and addresses them. Today’s engineer must meet the demands of the market while protecting one’s practice, one’s business, and one’s integrity. In this course, we will examine the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct as well as case studies of ethical violations and, from them, learn how adhering to the ethical code and communicating effectively can strengthen your practice, help avoid ethical dilemmas, and manage risk.
