Description
All firms have received phone calls from clients or others requesting help with an emergency problem. Something has happened to affect the building structure—no heat/ventilation, a chemical spill, a fire, flooding, something is making a bad noise or defecting and there is high concern that something bad may happen. When we get these calls, we must consider what it is we are being asked to do, if we can handle it as quickly as needed, and how this may affect our business—not just the benefit of the potential for increased revenue due to taking this project, but the wide variety of potential risks we may encounter.
This presentation will highlight responses to emergency events, including how emergency responses may affect your business and what should be considered beforehand to properly identify and measure the risk to benefit aspects.
Presenter: Douglas L. Fell is a Professional Engineer with almost 40 years of structural engineering experience. Doug has led structural engineering emergency response service teams and provides services on forensic engineering, legal, insurance, and restoration cases.
