Cost: $600 plus the cost of books used in the program. (Books may be purchased through Don or on your own.)

Overview

Leadership Growth Groups are highly participative groups of professionals who want to increase their overall effectiveness as leaders and managers. The sessions are designed to challenge, stretch, and inspire participants to higher levels of leadership, effectiveness, and impact.

Background

For many years ACEC/MN has offered The Effective Management Program, a comprehensive management development program for principals and managers of member firms. The program, led by Don Salverda, President of Donald Salverda and Associates, has been well received and highly successful.

The Leadership Growth Group Program is an outgrowth of The Effective Management Program with a focus on leadership development.

The Philosophy

It’s been said that most organizations are overly managed and under led.
The philosophy behind The Leadership Growth Group Program is simply that all leaders are a work in progress: that we all have the potential for improved effectiveness. The goal of this program is to encourage and challenge participants to be better leaders.

The Program Objectives

To provide ongoing interaction, sharing of leadership and management experiences, and lessons learned in a small group setting.
To react to and discuss new ideas and concepts pertaining to leadership and management.
To challenge and stretch each other to higher levels of leadership effectiveness.
To serve as a professional growth and support group.

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Minnesota
Over 25 years of experience in the professional development field
Skilled seminar, workshop, and retreat leader
Leadership experience in the private, public, and volunteer sectors
Regularly leads Leadership Growth Groups

The Particulars of the Program

The theme of the program is “Leaders Helping Leaders”
Groups are (in most cases) limited to 12 participants
Groups meet every other month
Sessions are structured – yet flexible – to meet the needs of the group
