Description
As part of a plant addition and upgrade, an out-of-state manufacturer needed to build a basement inside an existing facility while maintaining production directly adjacent to the project. This presentation will illustrate the innovative application of proven techniques used to excavate up to 20 feet below the existing slab inside the building.
Underpinning techniques used in this project will be discussed including soil solidification, soil nail walls and tie-back anchors. This presentation will describe the advantages of each system and explain the rational for its selection, and will also highlight the benefits of working with a qualified specialty contractor in a design/build delivery system.
Speaker: Gregory A. Norris LEED AP, Project Manager for Veit Companies, brings over 30 years of diverse and innovative geotechnical construction and project management experience from the private sector and the Army Corps of Engineers.
