Location: White Bear Lake, MN
Full-time, Non-Exempt
Job Description:
Hallberg Engineering is seeking a Staff Engineer that will be responsible for performing difficult and technically challenging work assigned to them within their engineering specialty.  The staff engineer is able to make significant contributions to the project design.  This person is assigned specific tasks on the project team and is expected to use their education, experience, intelligence and common sense to resolve the engineering problems and tasks they are assigned.
The duties listed below are minimum requirements for the position, but are not all encompassing. Each individual is expected to perform any duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule.  Under close supervision perform a variety of technical tasks, including:

  • Input of data into pre-written computer programs
  • Operate computer and run reports or calculations
  • Design portions of a project
  • Research vendors and suppliers for commercially available equipment
  • Recommend specifying equipment based on product searches
  • Prepare the drawings of designs they have originated
  • Perform technical analysis under supervision
  • Review existing drawings to determine existing equipment
  • Proficiency expected in the use of computers for design, and CAD and Revit applications
  • Review shop drawings under supervision
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Maintain neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members
  • Complete building system energy analysis with direct supervision
  • Assist with building surveys
  • Attend in-house seminars and attend educational opportunities outside of the office
  • Participate in technical and professional societies
  • Other duties as necessary and assigned
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • Minimum of two years previous engineering experience or recent completion of Master’s Degree
  • Completion of the EIT exam is desirable
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting (AutoCAD and Revit)
  • Understanding of applicable design codes
  • Must be able to communicate with a variety of individuals; must be able to follow verbal and written instructions/directions and respond to inquiries
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other business office machines
  • Must be able to move about the work area and travel to work-sites as needed or required
  • Ability to work hybrid per the telecommuting policy
Relationship to Others:
Reports to Project Leader or Project Manager.  Has contact with drafters and senior design staff.  Has contact with equipment suppliers/sales representatives.  Limited contact with clients and contractors.  Works directly for the various Project Designer/Engineers according to assignment.
