Founded in 1955 in Minneapolis, Meyer Borgman Johnson (MBJ) is a nationally recognized structural engineering firm with more than 60 licensed engineers across seven offices in Minnesota, Arizona, Illinois, Wisconsin, and California. We deliver innovative structural solutions across a broad range of markets, including aviation, civic, commercial, education, government, healthcare, hospitality, housing, industrial, office, and science & technology.
With project experience in 49 U.S. states and Canada, MBJ is a trusted partner to both public and private clients. Our portfolio includes new buildings, additions, complex renovations, and historic preservations—always with a focus on resilience, performance, and sustainability. We've collaborated on more than 40 LEED-certified projects, including LEED Platinum, as well as Passivhaus and Net Zero designs. In 2020, MBJ became one of the ten original signatories of the Structural Engineering Institute’s (SEI) SE 2050 Commitment to net-zero carbon.
Our specialties include mass timber, seismic and protective design, progressive collapse prevention, historic preservation, and steel connection design. MBJ also provides structural peer reviews and excels in complex, phased projects using traditional, design-build, or negotiated delivery methods.
