The PE license carries a legal obligation to hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public. That obligation outranks the client's schedule and the client's budget, and it does not bend when those two things are under pressure. It shows up in ordinary work. A PE seals a drawing and owns the judgment behind it. When the evidence does not support a design, the PE says so and puts a license behind that answer.
