Description
ACEC/MN and the MN PAC invite you to attend a seminar to discuss the recent law regarding indemnity agreements.
On Friday May 16, 2014, Governor Dayton signed into law Minnesota Laws Chapter 257. This marks the end of seven years of work by ACEC and other groups to pass indemnification legislation specific to design professionals.
In simple terms, this statute provides that indemnity agreements which attempt to force design professionals to take on an uninsurable risk for the fault of others are void and unenforceable in Minnesota. ACEC has received a number of questions regarding the passage of this bill. We’ve attempted to answer some of the more common questions in the attached document and will explore the issues and questions regarding this change in law at the June 19th seminar.
The presentation will be given by: Members of the ACEC indemnification task force--Mark Bloomquist of Meagher & Geer, PLLP, Eric Heiberg of Heley, Duncan & Melander, PLLP, and Holly Newman of DeWitt Mackall Crounse & Moore S.C., Daniel Larson of American Engineering Testing, Inc., and Randy Morris, ACEC/MN lobbyist.
At this seminar, you will learn about the advocacy and process undertaken to secure the successful passage of this important legislation. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss questions regarding the law and indemnity agreements in general with our panel of experts. Join us and find out how this new law will affect your business.
