This program is free to ACEC/MN members. Lunch is provided by VEIT.
This presentation will discuss unique aspects of the construction of the new Red Wing Bridge including the use of large diameter cased drilled shafts with rock sockets to support the primary piers.
The specifications for this project required the contractor to incorporate Mass Concrete, SCC Mix, Trial Placement, Thermal Modeling, and a Technique Shaft be completed prior to construction.
The Red Wing Bridge project is located along Highway 63 crossing the Mississippi River between Minnesota and Wisconsin. The project of this challenging endeavor consists of a series of new bridges with the largest span crossing the navigable channel.
Speakers:
Allie Brady is a Project Manager for VEIT. She is graduate of NDSU in civil Engineering. She interned at Kewit and VEIT before deciding to work in the geotechnical construction industry with VEIT.
Nate Iverson, PE, VEIT’s Chief Foundation Engineer, is a registered professional engineer and a project manager at VEIT. Nate has 16 years of experience in implementation and design of many types of specialized foundations.
